Davide Orlando (albegor) > This is very nice. At the ARM booth there was a demo running on two Axim X50v to show the power of the integrated 3D Intel chip. The left Axim was running the software version, while the right one the fully 3D accelerated version of the same demo.
You could tell the difference both in speed and image quality of course. That demo reminded me a lot of Flight Unlimited from the now closed Looking Glass Technologies.
I asked about that to the (apparently) indian guy who was describing the "animation" speaking as fast as the boat seller of Monkey Island 2 (do you remember that? ;) ), he stopped for an instant, then he continued to speak... even faster than before!
Davide Orlando (albegor) > At the TeleAtlas booth this could't pass unnoticed. An elegant Porche loaded with the latest GPS navigation devices.

Davide Orlando (albegor) > The Intel booth had a big wall filled with all their silicon chips of the past, the present, then what? Nice view.

Davide Orlando (albegor) > The Blackberry is an alien device, did you know? Only Ripley-Gates and his bunch of Windows Mobile space marines could defeat its growth!
Davide Orlando (albegor) > Eh, eh, eh, the small booth of the great Handango actually looked more like a jail than else. After the surprise pic I approached it and only the guy who was raising his head greeted me, while all the others remained glued to they laptops...
As one of their partner developer I didn't like that attitude, but I had a pleasant short talk with Clint Patterson, vice president of marketing, and he confirmed me the atmosphere was now pretty relaxed in the closing day of the event. I thanked him for the invitation, then I departed because I had a train to catch in a few minutes.
Davide Orlando (albegor) > Hey, wait! My limousine!!! Come back, I'm here, I've got the Loox720, the real limousine of PDAs...
Davide Orlando (albegor) > Oh, well... better head for the train station. At least that murales celebrating the Cannes film festival is a nice touch and the train stations in France seem to be better that the italian ones.

The train carried me to Nizza were I should have caught the one that would had taken me directly to Genova, since my plan was to head for Rapallo and spend the evening with my ex-coworkers of the now closed Trecision.
However I still had to get the ticket... the automatic ticketing machine did return a bad error at the end of the procedure so I had to make the long human queue and I lost the train...
I took the next train which brought me to Ventimiglia, but the first train for Genova would get me to Rapallo too late for the evening, so I resorted to plan B. I took a room in a hotel and finally had some rest.
I was really sorry about that, since that was a good chance to meet with some good old friends, including the graphics artist that's helping me and among the other friends there was even an ex-Westwood designer now living there.
